STYLEOLOGY is an immersive workshop where you’ll learn the fundamentals of property styling, styling homes for clients, brand styling and editorial styling. Our editorial styling session will be led by Bea Lambos, one of Australia’s top editorial stylists. This hands-on session dives into the practical techniques, industry insights, and creative processes behind styling spaces with confidence and purpose.

The STYLEOLOGY workshop is aimed at emerging, established and diversifying designers, decorators, and design and decoration students. This includes architects, building designers, documenters, specifiers, and builders.

Our STYLEOLOGY workshop will be held on Thursday the 3rd of April from 9.30am - 4.30pm.

We’ll explore the 3 key styling categories:
Property styling
Styling for client’s homes and
Brand/editorial styling

We’ll be joined by Andy Vance, the Head of Marketing and Branding for Jellis Craig (Inner North). Andy works with property owners to prepare their homes for their real estate sales campaign to ensure their properties look their absolute best when presented to the market.
Andy will discuss:
How property styling has changed over the last 5 years.
The difference between engaging a property stylist and using the home owners own furnishings.
How high end styling is changing and blurring the lines between editorial styling and property sales.
What’s involved in property styling and how do you negotiate the conversation with a client when emotions are involved.
How to break into this area of styling.

Lauren will take this session to focus on styling homes for clients and how this differs from property and brand/editorial styling. Her session will detail:
How to include styling in your Scope of Works.
What decorative elements to consider, e.g. art, objects and “finishing touches”.
How to narrow down your clients “style”.
How to choose art and furnishings and where to shop.
How to engage bespoke pieces from artists and artisans - when budget allows!

Alison will take this session to focus on brand editorial styling (think brand photoshoot campaigns) and how this differs from property styling and styling homes for clients. Her session will detail:
How a brand can create personality with imagery.
How to engage and inspire community.
Hunting for the perfect location.
Propping for a photoshoot and how to select the right bits and bobs.
Moodboarding.
How to break into brand styling.
How to become a styling assistant.

Bea from BEA + CO will be joining us for the entire afternoon so we can get into the nitty gritty of editorial styling! She’ll discuss mag’s, high end brands, and award submissions. Her session will be broken down into:
What is editorial styling?
The do’s and don’t’s of editorial styling.
Industry know how’s and know who’s.
How editorial styling differs visually from styling clients homes.
What tools and relationships are important for a successful shoot.
If outsourcing styling, what to ask a Stylist so you’re set you up for success.
How we don’t have to “do it all”, especially if you want to submit to mag’s or awards.

Alison, Lauren and Bea will guide you through a hands-on workshop on how to set up a room for a photoshoot, including the different angles, perspectives and why what we can see with your eye, can look totally different through the lens.
